Young Americans...

After a very nice article about Bassett Bears, in Teddy Bear Times and Friends, two of our hug have caught the eye of forever homes in America.

Dagwood is already in Oregon, America and settling nicely to his new home. He sent us this fabulous email below (with the help of his new companion Kistin):

"Subject: My Safe Arrival

Message: Dear Bassett Friends; I have arrived here safely. I arrived yesterday. There are many other bears here. They are very impressed with my sartorial splendour. They look as if they make their own clothes here. I have been conversing with a large fellow named Donald Chad-Valley. We only speak at night, of course. He says there is a lot of honey on the highest shelf in the kitchen cupboard. He is not tall enough to reach it by himself and I will try to help him get to it the very next chance we get. It is good to have a like-minded new friend. Thank you for sending me here. I think I will be happy. I will be staying here for quite some time I believe, so if any mail should come for me, please forward it. Tell all my old friends hello. Yours truly. Dagwood English"

Everyone here at the Hug in Royal Wootton Bassett were thrilled to hear that he was happy and making new friends. They will always remember him as an outgoing, adventurous gentleman.

Our bear friend Albert was spotted by an eagle eyed Arctophile in a group photograph and she fell in love with him. He had not even made it to the adoption listings because of a poorly shoulder joint. Albert will go to hospital in Oxford before starting his new adventure to his forever home in Iowa, America.

Albert is from the Pedigree family and was born between the mid 1950's and 60's. He is 22 inches tall, a little big for the Hug trike, but he loves it.

A lovely golden mohair with amber and black plastic eyes and a plastic nose. Other than a torn right shoulder joint, he is still very fit for his 50-60 years of age. Some of that fabulous mohair is thinning but then it comes to us all eventually.

Albert has steeled himself to his surgery, but obviously more excited about his move to the USA. He hopes they understand his English accent and that can can still get Marmalade! Steve and Jane read him the lovely emails from Sarah and he is so happy and very keen to meet her.

Everyone in the Hug wish Dagwood and Kistin, and Albert and Sarah every happiness in their new lives together. X
